Pearl Modiadie was co-hosting Lunch with Thomas and Pearl with Thomas Msengana until April 2021 on Metro FM weekdays 12-3pm. The show was a fast-paced, light-hearted lunchtime show full of lifestyle features and great music.
The beginning : 2009 was the year and it gave Pearl Modiadie the opportunity to further explore her talent, this time behind the mic on Gauteng’s youth radio station YFM.
This journey begins when Pearl tries her luck at being an Entertainment Reporter on Mo Flava’s then show (The Urban Express 6-9pm) when he opened the opportunity in the form of a competition to everyone who had an interest in hosting the slot. Pearl made it to the top 3 and what awaited her was a call from the Programme’s Manager Tumelo Diaho-Monaheng who gave Pearl an opportunity to shadow Mo Flava & learn to be an on-air radio personality instead.
During this time Pearl would find herself working a 9-5 job as a Content Producer at Red Pepper Pictures for E.tv’s Sistahood (where she was also a Presenter) then leave to learn the ins and outs of radio from 6-9pm . A hectic schedule which went on to become her new normal proving how much of a hard-worker she is.
She then went on to bag her own radio show when she was 20 years old which she called The Natural High, weekends between 00:00 – 03:00 from 2010 to 2011. The year 2012 proved to be fruitful when she was offered another slot, this time hosting The Jumpstart, a weekend breakfast show between 6:00 – 9:00 which she hosted until 2014.
After hosting the Metro FM awards Red Carpet early in 2015, Pearl had made a big impression on the station’s management team who made an offer for Pearl to have her national radio debut on one of SA’s top radio stations boasting millions of listeners, METRO FM. There she joined Amon Mokoena as a co-host on the lunchtime show, The Great Escape which was a favourite with the listeners!
Amon went on to spread his wings which gave an opportunity for Thomas Msengana to join the team on what was known as Lunch With Thomas and Pearl until 2021.
Lunch with Thomas and Pearl received The Best Lunchtime Show award at the 2020 Radio Awards!
